As for the water problem, you can collect dew from leaves in the early morning. This will be clean. During the day, if water is scarce, try eating fruits and berry's. Unsafe water is usually found in stagnant pools, holes and ponds. Try located a fast moving stream or water fall. These are better alternatives. If you are on extended hike, take iodine tablets with you to purify local water.
